A man has been jailed for six years after being convicted of rape in Sudbury.
Ambrish Dogra, aged 41 and of Layer Road in Colchester was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court today (Tuesday 22 April) after he was found guilty of rape on Thursday 6 March after a nine day trial in late February and early March.
During the trial the court heard how Dogra had organised a party at his workplace in December 2020 that was held in a storeroom. He supplied the female victim with alcohol. When the two of them were alone he then locked the storeroom door, pushed the victim to her knees and raped her.
Investigating officer DC Nicola Clarson said: “Suffolk police are committed in obtaining justice for victims of serious sexual offences and bringing those that commit such heinous crimes to justice. I wish to make special mention to the victim for her courage and for showing such bravery from her initial disclosure to providing her evidence in court.”
