Two brothers ‘systematically groomed’ a vulnerable 12-year-old girl for sex, a court has been told.
Kamar and Kamran Ilyas had sex with the girl in the mid-2000s when Kamar, now 39, was between 17 and 21, and Kamran, now 38, was aged about 18 to 20, prosecutors told Sheffield Crown Court on Monday.
The brothers allegedly had sex with the child after she drank alcohol and smoked cannabis. They deny the charges.
Paul Abrahams, prosecuting, told a jury the pair ‘systematically groomed a vulnerable young girl in Sheffield’.
He explained to the court on Monday how the girl, who is now in her 30s, performed a sex act on Kamar Ilyas, who had the nickname Nasser, in bushes in Meersbrook Park, in the city, when she was 12.
Mr Abrahams said the girl also performed another sex act on Kamar Ilyas in the area of Heeley City Farm, and he had sex with her in a car while parked in a lane near the Ivory Hotel.
The prosecutor told the court how the girl had sex with Kamran Ilyas – who she knew by the nickname Kammy K – in the bedroom of a flat where she had been drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis.
He said this was after Kamran Ilyas had taken off her trousers in the living room and started to ‘show off her body’.

According to the prosecutor, the girl said she was 13 years old at the time.
Mr Abrahams said Kamran Ilyas also had sex with the girl on a bench in Millennium Park in Sheffield, again when she said she was 13.
He said: ‘She distinctly recalls Kammy K asking her if she was going to grow some boobs.’
The prosecutor told the jurors they will hear from women who were friends with the girl at the time, who will explain how she appeared to be in a sexual relationship with someone called Kammy.
He said one friend kept a diary ‘and in those entries, it is clear that during that time [the girl] was engaged in sexual activity with unidentified males’.
After the prosecutor opened the case, Puneet Grewal, defending Kamar Ilyas, told the jury her client ‘denies ever knowing or having met [the girl]’.
She said he also denies that he used the nickname Nasser or that ‘any sexual intercourse or activity ever took place’ with the complainant.
Stephen Spence, defending Kamran Ilyas, said his client ‘denies any sexual contact with [the girl] and, therefore, disputes any reported identification’.
Judge Peter Hampton told the jurors that consent was not an issue in this case.
Kamar Ilyas, from Sheffield, denies two charges of raping a child under the age of 13 and also denies two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child.
Kamran Ilyas, also from Sheffield, denies two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, when under the age of 18; and two alternative counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl age 13 to 15, when aged 18 or over.
The jury was told the alternatives charged in relation to Kamran Ilyas relate to whether they decide the defendant was 18 or younger at the time of the alleged incidents.
The name Ilyas is of Arabic origin and is derived from the Hebrew name Elijah. It means “Yahweh is God” or “My God is Yahweh.” In Islamic tradition, Ilyas is considered a prophet and is mentioned in the Quran, making it a name of significant religious importance, particularly within Muslim communities. The name is widely used across the Arab world and among Muslim populations globally, reflecting its esteemed status.
