Six Men have been convicted for their involvement in the rape and sexual abuse of a child in Calderdale.
The victim/survivor was aged between 12 and 15 years old at the time of the abuse which took place between 2006 and 2009.
In 2019, the victim came forward disclosing the abuse that she had suffered and an investigation was launched.
Eight men were charged in August 2024 with a number of offences including rape, sexual activity with a child and attempted rape.
Following a six week trial, that began in February of this year, six of the men were found guilty by jury of the following offences:
- Mohammed Adnan, aged 44, from Halifax, was found guilty of one count of sexual assault
- Mohammed Shebhan, aged 42, from Halifax, was found guilty of two counts of rape.
- Amazar Ali, aged 53, from Halifax, was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child.
- Naveed Anjum, aged 49, from, Halifax, was found guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child.
- Imran Hussain, aged 50, from Halifax, was found guilty of attempted rape
- Adal Manaf, aged 48, from Halifax, was found guilty of one count of rape.
The six men have been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on the 22nd of May 2026
Also, in today’s proceedings, Khalid Kamran, aged 35, from Leeds, was found not guilty of rape.
Mohammed Mahmood, aged 40, of Halifax, will be tried again on 1st February 2027 after his case resulted in a hung jury.
