Alkasur Rahman, 42, has been charged in relation to an attempted kidnap and sexual assault in Rochdale

Alkasur Rahman (06/12/1979) of Brunswick Street, Rochdale has been charged with:

  • Attempt to commit an offence, namely kidnapping, with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence
  • Sexual assault by touching

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court today (Friday 28 October).

Police were called just before 2.30pm on Wednesday 27 October to a report that members of the public had detained a man that they believed had been attempting to kidnap a woman on John Street in Rochdale.

Officers attended, and established that a stranger had attempted to drag her behind a building when members of the public intervened.
