A man who posed as a taxi driver sexually assaulted a woman after she got inside his car. Vasil Georgiev, 37, claimed to be a taxi driver while driving a Honda Jazz around Burton-on-Trent in August 2022 when the unsuspecting victim got inside the vehicle.
She was later sexually assaulted in the car. Georgiev, of Swadlincote, Derbyshire, was arrested on the same day and questioned in custody.
Georgiev has now been locked up for four years after admitting sexual assault at Stafford Crown Court. He was also ordered to pay £190 in surcharge costs.
Detective Inspector Cathryn Holland, who dealt with the case, said: “I want to thank the victim for her exceptional bravery in supporting this investigation and making sure Georgiev faces justice. We want victims of sexual assault to know that they can speak to specially-trained officers in confidence who will do everything possible to put those responsible behind bars.”
