A “dangerous” man who raped a woman in Glasgow city centre has been jailed for eight years. Evil Mohand Mageed, 26, attacked the woman on the evening of Sunday, February 9, 2025.
Today (Wednesday, March 18), Mageed was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow after previously being found guilty on Monday, February 16. He has also been given a lifetime non-harassment order in respect of the victim.
Detective Inspector Shirley Coyle said: “This was a shocking attack on a young woman in a busy city centre. Mageed is a dangerous individual who now faces the consequences of his actions.
“We welcome this sentencing and I would like to thank the woman for her courage in reporting this crime to us and throughout our investigation.
“We remain committed to tackling sexual crimes and bringing those responsible to justice. I’d encourage anyone who has been a victim of such crimes to come forward and report it to us.
“We’ll thoroughly investigate and have specially trained officers and partner agencies to support you throughout.”
