A “dangerous predator” who sexually assaulted two women on the same train a week apart from one another has been jailed. Creepy Mohammed Mirzai, 24, has been caged for 10 months.
On Thursday, April 9, he was sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault at an earlier hearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years and pay a victim surcharge.
The court heard how on Friday, March 14, 2025, Mirzai got on the 9.45pm Scotrail service from Glasgow to Edinburgh and sat next to a woman despite other seats being available.
He went on to sexually assault the woman who challenged his actions. He left the train at Falkirk High railway station, though members of the public who had witnessed the incident had taken a photo of him.
The woman got in touch with British Transport Police by texting 61016, sharing the photo that had been taken of Mirzai.
As detectives worked to track him down, another woman contacted the force to report that he had also sexually assaulted her on the same train on Saturday March 22 – just over a week later.
He was traced and arrested on Thursday, July 17, before being taken into police custody for questioning.
Detective Constable Liam Deasley said: “Mirzai is a dangerous predator who targeted lone women in a routine manner, clearly finding a route that he felt comfortable and safe sexually assaulting women on.

A migrant hotel resident who sexually assaulted two different women on trains eight days apart has been jailed for 10 months.
Mohammed Mirzai, 24, who admitted touching both women on their upper thighs during the journeys, was told by a sheriff he was a “high-risk sexual offender”.
Falkirk Sheriff Court was told the women were both passengers on Scotrail’s 21:45 service from Glasgow to Edinburgh.
Mirzai, an Afghan asylum seeker who was living the Radisson Blu hotel in Perth, was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
Last week, Mirzai was sentenced to a separate 30-week jail term for crawling along the floor at Perth Leisure Pool to look up at a naked swimmer in a locked cubicle while on bail for the train offences.
Sheriff Maryam Labaki told Mirzai: “On two separate occasions, you sexually assaulted two woman who were travelling alone on a train.
“While on a train, they should have felt safe, and been safe.
“I am satisfied there is no alternative to a custodial sentence.”
